Official Boards of Canada Tee Shirts Now Available!

Boards of Canada and WARP have teamed up to offer official Boards of Canada T-Shirts via WARPMart - The first is a navy blue shortsleeve tee with the BoC "Trees" logo (like the stickers that came with Twoism and also used on the Invocation video opening on the Japanese Trans Canada Highway release), and the second is a sky blue tee with artwork stylized from Music Has The Right To Children. WARP says more designs are on the way in a month or so, so grab these while you can and await the next designs when they become available.

Limited Japanese Release of Trans Canada Highway

Right under our noses, Beat Records (WARP's Japanese distributor) has released a limited edition of Trans Canada Highway, Boards' newest EP (Due out 29 May in the UK, 30 May in the US/ROW) in both regular and limited edition formats on 20 May - Japan usually gets "extras" on their domestic releases of foreign artists as CDs are very expensive in Japan and doing so gives the Japanese the incentive to purchase the domestic version versus the import version.

Contained on the CD is the "trailer" video from WARP Records' TCH mini site, and Discogs.com lists it as being called "invacation" (Invocation perhaps, that got mangled into Engrish?). Either way, a nice (but expensive) way to have the video if you're not clever as some people on the internets...

A New, Mysterious BoC Trailer

WARP Records sent out an email today with nothing but the odd image Blockbusters Gold Run (thanks mcbpete) shown here Blockbusters Gold Runthat links to a section of the WARP Records website, showing a "trailer" of various BoC clips set to video (some would argue these are the sources for the samples in some of the tracks). This site, of course, promotes BoC's upcoming EP, Trans Canada Highway, which is due out 29 May. Of the tracks featured in the video is The Smallest Weird Number from Geogaddi, A Is to B as B Is to C, also from Geogaddi, and then in a rather surprising move, the unreleased song P.C. (Porno Clip?) from A Few Old Tunes (an unreleased cassette of BoC tracks made for friends and family), with accompanying visuals (not safe for work).

Some have speculated this is BoC's response to the reaction they got from the Dayvan Cowboy video (which comes on the Trans Canada Highway EP), which some fans felt wasn't "BoC enough". This short trailer features all the cliche Boards elements - the 70's logo and signature tune, grainy Hi 8 footage, hexagons, etc. Either way, a treat to say the least and here's hoping it appears on the Trans Canada Highway EP.

You can order the Trans Canada Highway EP from WARPMart. In addition, you can hear sound samples of Skyliner, one of the EP's best tracks, at Bleep.

The website was designed by A Remote Location, which, for the moment, only is a shade of turquoise...
